It will be a shelter and shade from the heat of the day, and a
refuge and hiding place from the storm and rain”
(Isa. 4:5-6).
The cloud enshrouds and is the Holy City, the New Jerusa-
lem, which is adorned as a bride (Rev. 21:9-10). Its base is
1,400 miles square (Rev. 21:16). The glorious cloud of the
Lord will cover all of the original royal grant to Abraham, which
extends over to the Euphrates River in Iraq. All this belongs to
Israel, and at long last, the Lord will claim it for them, never
again to allow surrender to opposition!
We know that when Christ ascended into heaven He was
accompanied by a cloud (Acts 1:9), and that when He returns,
it will be in the same way (Acts 1:11; Matt. 24:30). This ascen-
sion was accompanied by captives who were “led in his train,”
presumably from Hades (Psalm 68:18; Eph. 4:8). The cloud,
then, is composed of spiritual beings! It shouldn’t be a great
surprise to learn that these clouds are composed of more than
water vapor! Hebrews 12:1 speaks of a cloud of witnesses. The
two witnesses in Rev. 11:12 will ascend in a cloud. The Mys-
tery Church will translate and ascend to heaven to be in the
clouds (composed of angels, past Old Testament Saints, and
newly resurrected saints of the Church).
In clouds such as these are to be ten thousand times ten
thousand (Rev. 5:11). Ten thousands will come with the Lord
(Jude 14). God is to dwell at a mountain (Mt. Zion) and will
come and make His sanctuary there. He will have there tens of
thousands of “chariots” (Psalm 68:17). The clouds are His
chariot (Psalm 104:3), and He will come again with them (Isa.
66:15; Hab. 3:8).
