The End

The phrase Alpha and Omega aren’t used for First and Last

because the Old Testament was originally written in Hebrew,

and alpha and omega are Greek letters. The New Testament

was written in Greek and we need to look there to find that

phrase.

The Last Is The Omega

Alpha and omega are the first and last letters of the Greek

alphabet; thus the meaning of the many scriptural references to

the first and the last. The book of Revelation states:

“…I am

Alpha and Omega, the first and the last…”

(Rev 1:11, KJV).

(See also Rev. 1:17, 2:8, 22:13.) The One who is the Alpha is

also the Omega—He is both the Creator and the Consumma-

tor. What could make more sense than for the One who creat-

ed the world to be the One who also consummates it?

Thus, the Last is the Omega.

The Omega Is God Almighty

From the book of Revelation we find,

“I am the Alpha and

the Omega, says the Lord God, who is, and who was, and who

is to come, the Almighty”

(Rev. 1:8). (See also Rev. 4:8.)

One sees here that the Lord God Almighty is the Omega.
