The End

It is at this time that fire will come down from heaven and

devour the world’s army (Ps. 97:3; Rev. 20:9), fulfilling a

promise in Hebrews 10:27,

“…a fearful expectation of judge-

ment and of raging fire that will consume the enemies of God.”

JEWS ARISE FOR VICTORY

“The house of Jacob will be a fire and the house of Joseph a

flame”

(Obad. 1:18).

“Then the leaders of Judah will say in their hearts, ‘The

people of Jerusalem are strong, because the Lord Almighty is

their God.’ On that day I will make the leaders of Judah like a

firepot in a woodpile, like a flaming torch among sheaves. They

will consume right and left all the surrounding peoples, but

Jerusalem will remain intact in her place”

(Zech. 12:5-6).

Some are burnt on the tops of their heads (Jer. 48:45).

Others will be seized with terror:

“They will writhe like a wom-

an in labor. They will look aghast at each other, their faces

aflame”

(Isa. 13:8).

“The peoples will be burned as if to lime; like cut thorn-

bushes they will be set ablaze”

(Isa. 33:12).

INSTANTANEOUS NECROSIS

The Lord also describes what is more than just fire.

“There-

fore, the Lord, the LORD Almighty, will send a wasting disease

upon his [Antichrist’s] sturdy warriors; under his pomp a fire

will be kindled like a blazing flame”

(Isa. 10:16).

Here the Lord associates a wasting disease with fire, but

this fire is, “like a blazing flame.” A fire is something that re-
